About Us

Our Story

The new Creamery caretakers are the Isaac family of Morris Plains, NJ, who have been customers ever since it was just an ice cream shop. Two of them (Joseph and Sarona) even worked here during high school, and you can spot their mugs on the “Creamery Graduates” shelves! Together with their mother Amleset, they look forward to reinforcing the traditions and atmosphere that helped make the Creamery so special to Morristown, and to introducing the community (via the Red Sea Café) to the East African flavors of their mother’s Eritrean cooking.

What is the Red Sea Café?

Open by reservation every weeknight from 5-8pm, the Red Sea Café features a fusion of the Creamery’s famous Italian-inspired recipes with the Eritrean dishes well-known to lovers of East African and Ethiopian cuisine.

As Eritrean food is inclusive of many diets, our dinners feature options for meat lovers, vegetarians, vegans, and the gluten-intolerant, with slow-cooked stews served over a bed of our seasoned rice and warm cabbage salad. We also offer a sampler option for customers that allows them to try up to 3 of our Eritrean dishes, served traditionally over a circle of our homemade teff injera (similar in taste to a sourdough crepe, and made from gluten-free teff grass).

We’re excited to introduce this part of our heritage and culture with Morristown and look forward to having you stop by and visit! We just ask that you please call ahead so that we can best prepare this experience for you.
